Your inner exploration journey starts here!
Have you heard of positive affirmations? Have you tried them? Have they worked for you? Affirmations are normally presented as a way of rewiring our brain through repetition and have the potential to work. The issue here is that our repetition of affirmations may go against the most hardcore values and beliefs we hold. When dealing with our mind, it cannot hold conflicting beliefs or thoughts. They will cancel each other. Furthermore, the more conscious effort we apply to the subconscious mind, the less responsive it tends to be.
“How's that?” you may be thinking, “If the purpose of affirmations is to align ourselves with what we want to manifest in our reality?” Right. However, have they worked for you so far? Affirmations will work when they are truly aligned with your values and beliefs. Otherwise, your repetition of affirmations will crash against the sturdy wall of your deeply held unconscious beliefs and even some of the unconscious values you abide by.
So, in a sense, in order for affirmations to work for us, we need to start by uprooting those beliefs and values because, ultimately, they are the ones running our life 24/7. When you repeat the affirmations, pay attention to the reaction in your body or the immediate thoughts that arise in your mind while carrying out your affirmations.
Yes, you may feel bliss and joy, and whatnot, and that may give force to your affirmation, starting the process of rewriting your life script and rewiring your mind. I have done that many times. And yet, despite those beautiful feelings, the reality on the outside seems to not change that much. So, what's really playing here?
We go about our life and encounter situations that prove that our affirmations are still not bearing fruit and feel the pain or the anxiety those situations cause. Those emotional reactions are signposts to begin exploring the wall our affirmations are crashing against. That exploration needs to be done in the silence of our introspection and meditation.
One session may not suffice. There are layers upon layers protecting our beliefs, which need to be peeled off in a constant conscious effort, a committed effort to find the true root cause of those beliefs. Once you get there and uproot those beliefs, the gates of heaven open for you. Your affirmations will find free passage to your subconscious mind and have the impact they are meant to have in your life.
Yes, by all means, you can continue repeating your affirmations. But now, add a layer of understanding, pay extra attention to the nagging feelings that arise when you repeat them, and start following those feelings to the depths of your subconscious mind to acquire the understanding and knowledge you need to let go of limiting beliefs and detrimental values that keep you in cycles you long to get out of."
